Traveling for work allows me the opportunity to try lots of restaurants. Some of my co-workers and I ventured to Water Grill for dinner after a long day of being in a conference room. We made the short walk to Water Grill for some seafood. We started with chilled wild jumbo Mexican shrimp. I also ordered a ½ pound of chilled mussels. We also split a salad. For my main I ordered the wild Ross Sea Chilean sea bass with butternut squash gnocchi and sage brown butter. Two of my friends got the tagarashi seared bigeye tuna. They said it was rather spicy probably since tagarashi means “seven flavor chili pepper.” My other friend also ordered the sea bass but she got the gluten-free version which came with grilled vegetables. We were too full to get dessert. I know...shocking because I love dessert. But fret not....I came back for Round 2 the next day. Yes, I came back the next day for lunch after a serious power walk on the beach. This time I came in for a late lunch and sat up at the bar. I ordered the chilled mussels again, a bowl of the claim chowder and the jumbo lump crab cake. I was hungry! I also ordered the key lime pie to go. The New England-style chowder was

We had an absolutely fantastic date night at Water Grill in Santa Monica! The entire experience felt upscale, lively, and incredibly memorable. We started the evening with some of their cocktails, which were exceptionally tasty, unique, and beautifully crafted. For appetizers, we shared a sushi roll and the grilled octopus. The octopus was the absolute star of the start of our meal—perfectly charred and completely fantastic! For entrees, the cioppino was amazing. It was rich, incredibly flavorful, and packed to the brim with all sorts of delicious, fresh seafood. I originally had my heart set on the Chilean sea bass, but since they were completely out of it for the night, I opted for the lobster roll instead. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it was absolutely delicious and packed with tender meat. The atmosphere has beautiful views of the water and a great, energetic vibe. While the ambiance was a bit on the louder side, it didn't detract at all from the beautiful setting and great energy. To top it all off, the service was good and highly knowledgeable; our server gave us great insights into the menu. We will definitely be back for another date night soon!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic experience! ​We had a truly pleasant evening at Water Grill in Santa Monica. Everything from the food to the vibe was just fantastic. ​The Food: ​Oyster Sampler: We started with two samplers and the oysters were incredibly fresh and great. ​Mains & Sushi: The halibut, sushi rolls, and cioppino were all absolutely delicious. ​Sea Bass: It came out a little undercooked at first, but the team handled it flawlessly. They immediately replaced it with a perfectly cooked piece. Every single dish was fantastic. ​The Service: The staff is super helpful! We had wonderful conversations with them throughout the night. Dinner was perfectly served and they really went above and beyond to make sure our night was flawless. And thanks for making us welcome for our 25y anniversary 😊❤️ ​Highly recommend this place if you are in Santa Monica!

So good! Edgar was an amazing server. You can byo wine (first bottle is complimentary) but the cocktails sounded tasty too. Not pictured is the ahi tuna that was absolutely delicious. Everything was reasonably priced and I’d definitely come back again.

Water Grill Santa Monica seriously impressed me. I went in thinking seafood, but ended up ordering the Wagyu ribeye cap from Snake River Farms and it was outstanding. Easily the most flavorful steak I’ve had in Southern California. Super juicy, rich, and packed with flavor without feeling heavy. You can really taste the quality of the meat. The only other place I’ve ever had this cut was at Ocean 48, where it was off menu. They had a slightly better char on it there, but that’s honestly the only thing missing here. The meat itself at Water Grill is top tier and absolutely worth ordering. The atmosphere is great. Upscale but comfortable, not stiff or over the top. I also had the spicy margarita and it was really good, well balanced and not overly sweet. If you think Water Grill is only about seafood, don’t make that mistake. The steak alone is reason enough to come back.
